MU Online Season 13, the Season of the 4th Wings
MU Online Season 13 is the season of the 4th wings, the first wing tier above the 3rd wings that arrived in 2007. It opened in Korea in late October 2017 with Swamp of Darkness, a level-800 map split into five elemental fields, and the wings followed on November 21, 2017. Part 2 brought the first earrings, an Archangel weapon for the Rage Fighter and a higher level cap. Global players received Part 1, wings included, on August 21, 2018, and Part 2 on March 5, 2019.

No class was added: Season 13 kept the eight classes of Season 12. The next one, the Rune Wizard, opened Season 14.
How do you make 4th wings in MU Online?
The Season 13 recipe has two crafting steps and a requirement for wearing the result: only characters at level 800 or higher that have taken the 4th class change from Season 12 Part 2 can use 4th wings.
- Qualify to wear it. Level 800 plus a completed 4th class change.
- Make a Garuda's Feather. Combine a 3rd wing enhanced to +13 or higher with the required materials.
- Make the wing. Combine the Garuda's Feather with a Garuda's Flame and 50 Golden Crests.
- Roll and upgrade. A 4th wing can carry up to four options out of a pool of eleven, and its look grows more elaborate as you enhance it.
Why were 4th wings such a big deal?
New wing tiers are rare in MU. The 3rd wings arrived in 2007, and Season 13's 4th wings were the first full tier above them in ten years. Veterans may think of the four "monster" wings of 2012, which the community calls 2.5 wings, but as the name says, those sat between the 2nd and 3rd tiers rather than above the 3rd. The 4th wings also tied two seasons together. Only a 4th-class character could wear them, so the class tier from Season 12 and the wing tier from Season 13 became one long goal for level-800 players.
Where do Golden Crests come from?
Golden Crests are the 4th-wing material you need fifty of. At launch they dropped in Swamp of Darkness. After that, Webzen used them as a launch-event drop in new maps, among them Kubera Mine in Season 14, Red Smoke Icarus (globally, Crimson Flame's Icarus) in Season 15 and Temple of Arnil in Season 16. Where they drop on a given server today depends on its version and settings.
On servers built on IGCN's files you may meet the crest under another name. IGCN's stock data lists an item called Golden Sentence right after Garuda's Flame and Garuda's Feather, and has the God of Darkness, the boss of its Swamp of Darkness event, drop it. That is almost certainly a literal translation of the Korean name, whose word for crest can also be read as sentence.
What level is Swamp of Darkness?
Level 800 and up, the same line as the 4th class change. The swamp is divided into five elemental fields, fire, wind, water, earth and darkness, the same five elements behind the Pentagram system that began in the eX700 era. Which mastery gear came with Season 13?
One new tier on each side of the mastery line, both in Part 1. Awakening Soul became the fourth mastery armor set, and the Korean version gave it an option with a chance to deal triple damage. Holy Angel weapons became the third mastery weapons; the Korean recipe used a +11 second-tier excellent mastery weapon and a Holy Angel Anvil. What did Season 13 Part 2 add?
- The first earrings. Earrings start here: Korea announced new earrings and the global release a new mastery accessory. Webzen's guide library lists them as the 1st mastery earrings, the Earrings of Wrath, and IGCN's files call them Rage Earrings. Season 14 Part 2 added the next tier, the Earring of the Ancestor.
- An Archangel weapon for the Rage Fighter. The Rage Fighter got its own Archangel weapon, a claw.
- A Maze of Dimensions rework for the event map that Season 12 had introduced.
- A higher level cap. Global players went from 920 to 1050 with Part 2, and Korea was also at 1050 by the time Season 14 began.
What does "Season 13" mean on a private server?
It means the server runs files from this era: 4th wings and Swamp of Darkness, plus earrings if the label says Part 2. A stock Season 13 version has eight classes, so nothing from the Rune Wizard onward. Season 13 and Season 13 Part 2 server files were still being shared publicly in late 2024.
