MU Online Season 12: Level 800 and the 4th Class Change

Create a free account What's new in Season 22

MU Online Season 12 is the season of the 4th class change. Its Part 2, live in Korea on May 30, 2017 and on the global service on December 5, 2017, let characters at level 800 take a fourth class and opened the Skill Enhancement Tree, the start of the tier that server files call Majestic. Part 1 had already added Nixie Lake, the Holy Angel armor set and the Maze of Dimensions event map, and Part 2 also brought Deep Dungeon and Guide Quests. The 4th wings of Season 13 required this new class tier, and Season 22 still builds on it.

Season 12 at a glance

What is the 4th class change in MU Online?

Before Season 12, the 3rd class change and the master skill tree were the last steps in a character's growth. Season 12 Part 2 added a fourth. A character at level 800 could take a three-stage quest that starts with an NPC in Lorencia and plays out in a separate test zone, and come out with a new class title and a new skill tree. Webzen's global Season 12 Part 2 announcement lists the 4th class quests next to that tree, a renewed Master Skill Tree, Deep Dungeon and Guide Quests.

How does the 4th class quest work?

  1. Reach level 800. MU counts normal and master levels together, so this means a 3rd-class character with 400 master levels. Webzen's Season 12 notes add that a 3rd-class character stops gaining EXP at 800, so the class change is the only way forward.
  2. Pass the three stages. In Webzen's global guide you first beat the quest NPC in a test fight, then clear a timed wave of Deep Dungeon monsters, then win a tougher rematch with the NPC. Party members from level 750 can enter the test zone and help.
  3. Open the Skill Enhancement Tree. It unlocks after the change and lets each class customize its main skills.
  4. Keep leveling past 800. In IGCN's server files, the levels a 4th-class character goes on to earn are called majestic levels, and the EXP settings count them as master levels.

Which classes got a 4th class?

All eight classes of the time, from the Dark Knight to the Grow Lancer. Webzen's global guide gives each one a new title:

The Rune Wizard, added two seasons later, got its own version: Webzen's global guide calls it the Majestic Rune Wizard, reached at level 800 through a quest with steps in Deep Dungeon.

What does Majestic mean in MU Online?

Majestic is the name for the 4th-class tier. IGCN's server files use it for the levels and EXP that follow the 4th class change, and Webzen uses it in the name of the Rune Wizard's 4th class, the Majestic Rune Wizard. When a private-server guide or a server page talks about Majestic levels or Majestic content, it means the tier that began here, in Season 12 Part 2. For the master levels that lead up to it, see our master level guide.

Some guides date Majestic levels to Season 16. The 4th-class tier they describe started in Season 12 Part 2: May 30, 2017 in Korea and December 5, 2017 on the global service.

Did the Grow Lancer come out in Season 12?

No, although some class lists put her there. Her debut came with Season X: Korean players met her in late August 2014, and the global service added her on April 7, 2015, in a release that bundled Season X Parts 1 and 2. Season 12 added no class at all. What it gave the Grow Lancer was what it gave everyone else, a 4th class. Her debut is covered in our Season X article.

Which maps did Season 12 add?

Nixie Lake (Part 1)

A high-level hunting ground with a story attached: the lake spirit Nix fell under an evil power and froze the lake, and Nix is the boss you face there. The global service spells it Nixies Lake. It opened in Korea on November 1, 2016 and globally on April 25, 2017, and IGCN's Season 22 data still lists it as map 113. The leveling spots guide shows where it fits in a route.

Deep Dungeon (Part 2)

Deep Dungeon is reached from Lorencia and asks for level 770 in Korea. It stacks five floors of monsters, including Skeleton Archers, Hell Spiders and Gorgons, and drops jewels and excellent gear. The Rune Wizard's 4th class quest later sent players back down here. IGCN's Season 22 data keeps all five floors as maps 116 to 120.

Maze of Dimensions (event map)

Korea's second Part 1 update, in late November 2016, opened a seven-stage event map for master-level characters. You enter through a Gate of Dimensions and clear it stage by stage, with Ruud and Jewels of Bless among the rewards. The global notes do not say when it arrived there, but Webzen's release for the global Season 13 Part 2 update (March 2019) lists a rework of it. In IGCN's files the map is called the Labyrinth (map 115).

Holy Angel armor and Dark Angel weapons

Part 1 added the next armor tier. Holy Angel became the third mastery armor set, upgraded from second-tier gear, the Dark Angel set that Season 11 introduced. Dark Angel weapons arrived alongside it, one step above the Blood Angel weapons of Season 11. On the global service the names are written Holyangel and Darkangel. For the whole ladder up to the Imperial tier, see the mastery gear guide.

What else changed in Season 12?

What is Season 12 Episode 2 on a private server?

It is the private-server name for this version with Part 2 included, also written S12 Part 2 or S12 ep 2. The label tells you Part 2's content is in: the 4th class change, the Skill Enhancement Tree, Deep Dungeon and Guide Quests. It also tells you what is missing, namely the 4th wings and earrings of Season 13 and every class after the first eight. Server files with that label were being shared publicly by 2018.

Season 22 still contains Season 12's maps and its 4th class tier, and adds what came after, including eight more classes for 16 in total. The Season 22 overview covers what is new right now.
