MU Online Season 7, the Update Webzen Called eX700
MU Online Season 7 is the name players use for MU: eX700, the expansion Webzen released after Season 6. It opened Acheron, the first region outside the MU continent, and built a new layer of the game on five elements, with the Pentagram equipment slot, Errtel gems and Arca War, a guild battle for Acheron's obelisks. Master levels rose from 200 to 300. The Korean service got eX700 around November 22, 2011, and the global service on May 31, 2012.

Why is there no official MU Online Season 7?
Because Webzen never released an update under that name. After Season 6, it previewed the next Korean update in August 2011 as MU Expansion, then released it as MU: eX700 in November 2011, after about a month on the test server and a public demo at G-STAR 2011. Webzen called it the biggest update in MU's ten-year history.
Korea then got eX701 and eX702 before Season 8. The global service announced eX700 in Webzen's May 2012 release and followed it with eX700 Plus. Players and server-file makers numbered the stretch between Season 6 and Season 8 themselves, and Season 7 stuck.

What did eX700 add to MU Online?
Acheron, the first region beyond the continent
According to Webzen's 2012 global guide, every monster in Acheron belongs to an element, shown by its skin color. Global players got in with a Spirit Map: five Spirit Map Fragments joined into the map on their own, and you handed it to Captain Slope in Noria. Only two hunting areas were open at launch, and the region carried a 30% EXP bonus, which eX700 Plus cut to 15% that October.
The same guide puts the regular monsters at levels 88 to 103, plus five level-113 elemental bosses that only take elemental damage: Salamander, Undine, Sylphid, Gnome and Hellraiser.
Master level 300
eX700 raised the master level cap from 200 to 300, for 700 levels in total, and finished the master skill trees. Webzen's guide adds that global players had their master skills reset, and each class tree went from four branches to three, with up to 20 points per skill. The master level guide explains how master levels work today.
How do elements, Pentagrams and Errtels work?
Here is how the element system worked at the 2012 global launch, per Webzen's eX700 element guide:
- Your pentagram sets your element. The Pentagram has its own equipment slot and gives you one of five elements: fire, water, wind, earth or darkness. Without one, you have no element.
- Getting one. The first two pentagrams needed level 100 and level 200. They dropped from Acheron's elemental monsters and from bosses on the MU continent.
- Errtels fill its slots. Each pentagram rolled one to four slots, each tied to one Errtel type: Anger, Blessing, Integrity or Divinity. NPC Adniel in Acheron crafted Errtels from Mithril and Elixir.
- Both can be upgraded. Pentagrams went to +15, with the Chaos Machine taking over past +9. Errtels went to +10, and rank-ups added options.
- Elemental damage pays off in PvP. It got a 30% bonus against other players.
Season 8 later brought pentagrams for characters above level 300, and Season X added the Errtel of Radiance for a fifth slot. Our Pentagram and Errtel guide covers the system on Season 22, and SilverMU's rates page shows the combination and upgrade rates as the server files set them.
What were the original Arca War rules?
Arca War came with eX700 and is fought over elemental obelisks in Acheron. Korean coverage called it MU's first guild war, although Castle Siege had pitted guild alliances against each other in Korea since 2005; the new part was a weekly fight over several obelisks. Webzen's 2012 global guide set these rules:
- One war a week, on Tuesdays, with registration through NPC Sir Lesnar.
- 10 to 20 members per guild, and up to six guilds per server.
- Three barriers around each obelisk.
- A week-long bonus of 20% EXP and drops for every member of a guild that held an obelisk.
IGCN's Season 22 files still use a 10-member minimum, a 30-minute battle and a 20% EXP tower buff, and leave the day and hour to each server. Our Arca War guide covers the battle zones and guild tactics.
What did eX701 and eX700 Plus add?
Korea's eX701 update in spring 2012 brought the wings players call 2.5 wings. A translated copy of the Korean patch note describes four, each crafted from a 2nd-tier wing plus jewels and monster materials; IGCN's item list names them:
- Cloak of Death for the Rage Fighter and Dark Lord.
- Wings of Chaos for the Blade Knight and Magic Gladiator.
- Wings of Magic for the Soul Master, Bloody Summoner and Magic Gladiator.
- Wings of Life for the Muse Elf.
The same note lists ten socket weapons crafted from Raklion monster materials. The global service added the wings and socket weapons with eX700 Plus on October 10, 2012, along with socket armor sets for third-class characters, the 702 cap and HP bars for monsters and party members. Webzen's notice called the wings Evil's Cursed Wings and said players could not obtain them at that stage of the eX700 story.
Is Season 7 still in MU Online today?
Yes. IGCN's stock Season 22 data keeps Acheron and Debenter, each with its own Arca Battle copy, along with the settings for pentagrams, Errtels and Arca Battle. If you want a Season 7 private server for Acheron or Arca War, a Season 22 server can carry the same content next to sixteen classes; which maps and events it switches on is its own choice.
The numbers have moved on: eX700 stopped at master level 300, while the Season 22 Part 1-1 package allows 1400 master levels on top of the 400 normal ones, 1800 in total.
