MU Online Season 16: One Class, Two Maps and an MG Renewal

Create a free account What's new in Season 22

MU Online Season 16 is the Gun Crusher's season. MU's eleventh class, a gunner whose magic gun runs on Energy, went live in Korea on September 15, 2020 and reached the global service on July 27, 2021. Around it, the season opened two hunting grounds, Temple of Arnil and Gray Aida, raised the level cap to 1350 and, in its second half, renewed the Magic Gladiator.

Its server files also circulated widely in the private-server scene, under short labels such as S16 and S16-1.

Season 16 at a glance

When was the Gun Crusher added to MU Online?

In Season 16 Part 1-1, which is also the label on Webzen's global class guide. Korea opened speed-server pre-registration on September 11, 2020 and launched the class on September 15 at 15:00, together with a speed server that stayed open for about five weeks, until October 22. Global players got the Gun Crusher with Part 1 on July 27, 2021, again alongside a new speed server.

The Gun Crusher came a year after the Slayer, MU's tenth class. Lists that put it in Season 17 are one season late: Season 17's new classes were the Light Wizard and the Lemuria Mage, covered in our Season 17 article.

How does the Gun Crusher fight?

According to Webzen's Gun Crusher guide, its magic guns add Wizardry, and Korean launch coverage named Energy as its main stat, so it plays like a spellcaster with a gun. The class line runs Gun Crusher, Gun Breaker and Master Gun Breaker, and new characters start in Elbeland.

Its launch skills were Dark Plasma, Ice Break, Death Fire, Ice Blast and Bursting Flare. On the Korean service, Part 2-1 added a new buff and the May 2021 update added Fixed Fire; much later, the Korean Season 21 Part 2 adjusted its wizardry damage. For SilverMU's overview of the class, see the Gun Crusher class page.

What are Temple of Arnil and Gray Aida?

They are Season 16's two hunting grounds, and both go by more than one name, which makes them harder to look up:

Temple of Arnil

Korea opened Temple of Arnil with the second Season 16 update on October 13, 2020, the same day the level cap rose to 1300. Webzen's global map guide describes it as the ruined shrine of Arnil, a vampire god who later became Lemuria, and lists an entry level of 1100, a walk-in entrance in Elbeland and excellent Manticore armor as the main drop. At launch its monsters also dropped elemental tokens and Golden Crests, one of the 4th-wing materials. IGCN's Season 22 data divides the temple into fire, water, earth, wind and darkness zones.

Gray Aida

Gray Aida came with Season 16 Part 2, in April 2021 on the Korean service and on January 25, 2022 on the global one, where Webzen's Gray Aida release introduced it. The name comes from its story: forbidden magic cast in Aida opened a hidden zone where nothing kept its color, and every plant and creature turned black or white. Webzen's map guide lists an entry level of 1130, elemental and elite monsters, and excellent Manticore armor and socket necklaces among the main drops. Ashen Aida is a common translation of the Korean name, so all three names lead to the same map.

What changed in the Magic Gladiator renewal?

On May 11, 2021, the second update of the Korean Season 16 Part 2 rebuilt the Magic Gladiator. Both of its builds, the knight type and the wizard type, received new attack and buff skills, and Korea reset their stats and Skill Enhancement Trees so every MG could be rebuilt around the new kit.

The global Part 2 release of January 2022 tied the season to the class in another way: its level 1300 reward was a limited Magic Gladiator-themed Muun called Rexmilon. The MG has been reworked three more times since, in Season 18, Season 21 and Season 22, where the knight type's new Fighting Spirit attack power works only with Crusher Charge running. Our Magic Gladiator guide compares the builds.

What does S16-1 mean on a private server?

Season 16 server files were shared widely between 2021 and 2023, so the season turns up in the private-server scene under short labels. These usually borrow Webzen's part numbers: S16-1 normally means a build from Season 16 Part 1, with the Gun Crusher, while a Season 16 Part 2 build should also contain Gray Aida and the 1350 level cap. Exactly what a server includes depends on its files and settings, so check its own pages.

A season label is also a content ceiling. In official terms, Season 16 ends with 11 classes and a level cap of 1350. Five classes came later: the Light Wizard and the Lemuria Mage in Season 17, the Illusion Knight in Season 18, the Alchemist in Season 20 and the Crusader in Season 21. Season 22 includes all 16.

Our server checklist covers what else to look at before you pick a server.

Play the Gun Crusher in Season 22 on SilverMU

The Gun Crusher and the renewed Magic Gladiator both carried on into later seasons, and Temple of Arnil and Gray Aida remain on the map list of IGCN's Season 22 files. SilverMU runs Season 22 Part 1-1, server files 22.1.1.0, so both classes come in their Season 22 versions rather than as a Season 16 snapshot. For every season from 97d to 22, see the MU Online season history.

Nothing about rates or settings is final yet, because SilverMU is still in its test phase. A news post will spell out the final numbers before launch, and the game client will be added to the download page as soon as it is out. Signing up is free.
