What MU Online Season 20 Added, Part by Part
MU Online Season 20 brought two things the endgame still runs on: the Alchemist, MU's 15th class, and Temple Guard, the first Legendary gear tier above the old mastery sets. Over one year on the Korean service, from September 2024 to September 2025, it also opened two endgame hunting grounds (Kardamahal Underground Temple and the Swamp of Destruction), renewed the Rune Wizard, introduced a new EXP table and the 7th guardian Tauros, and raised the level cap to 1700.
It arrived in six parts, and Korea, Webzen's global service and the server files private servers use each released them on their own schedule. Here is every part in order, what it meant in play, and what is still in the game in Season 22.

When did MU Online Season 20 come out?
Season 20 opened on the Korean service on September 24, 2024 and ran until September 30, 2025, when Season 21 began with the Crusader. Webzen's global service runs about ten months behind Korea: its Season 20 Part 1 launched on July 22, 2025, together with a new Speed Server. Global names its releases Part 1 and Part 2, each with a second and third update, but the content lines up with the Korean parts:
| Part | Headline | Korean service | Global service |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1-1 | Alchemist | Sep 24, 2024 | Jul 22, 2025 |
| 1-2 | Kardamahal, level 1700 | Oct 15, 2024 | Aug 19, 2025 |
| 1-3 | Temple Guard legendary gear | Nov 5, 2024 | Sep 9, 2025 |
| 2-1 | Rune Wizard renewal | Apr 22, 2025 | Feb 3, 2026 |
| 2-2 | Swamp of Destruction, Frost earrings | May 13, 2025 | Feb 24, 2026 |
| 2-3 | Guardian Tauros | May 29, 2025 | Mar 17, 2026 |
Private servers follow neither calendar exactly, because they run server files. IGCN, a server-files developer, announced two Season 20 builds, each named after the newest Korean part inside it. Its Part 1-3 build reached testers in January 2025. Its Part 2-2 build, which also carries the Korean Part 2-1, went to test in June 2025 and was declared IGCN's stable Season 20 version on July 30, 2025. IGCN's Season 21 files followed in October 2025.
What did Season 20 Part 1 add?
Part 1 came in three quick steps in the Korean autumn of 2024: a new class, then a new map and level cap three weeks later, then the first Legendary gear three weeks after that.
Part 1-1: the Alchemist, MU's 15th class
The season opened with the Alchemist, a caster whose magic comes from alchemy. On the official service she needs no unlock and starts in Elbeland, and she fights with a wand in the main hand and an elixir in the other. Her own spells are Angel Homunculus, Ignition Bomber, Countless Weapon and Confusion Stone, and she also shares part of the Dark Wizard's spell list.
Confusion Stone is the one a party notices: for a limited time it brings an extra hunting-ground monster into play, so a group with an Alchemist has more to kill. Webzen's global launch notes sold the class on strong magic damage backed by good defense, at home in an attack or a support role. The official set party pairs her with the Grow Lancer and the Rune Wizard, and her class line runs Alchemist, Alchemic Magician, Alchemic Master. Webzen's Alchemist guide lists her starting stats as 110 HP, 80 MP, 15 Strength, 20 Agility, 23 Vitality and 25 Energy.
Part 1-2: Kardamahal Underground Temple and level 1700
Three weeks later the endgame got a new top map. Kardamahal Underground Temple opened with an entry level of 1500; Webzen's global story sets it beneath Karutan, full of elemental monsters such as the Devil Sword. It also lifted the level cap from 1650 to 1700, or Master Level 1300, giving every high-level character fifty more levels to chase; the master level guide covers what changes once a character passes level 400.
Part 1-2 also gave the Alchemist the equipment the older classes already had: 3rd, 4th and 5th wings with a Wing Core, socket items, and mastery weapons and sets up to the 10th tier.
Part 1-3: Temple Guard, Guild Matching and one combination window
Part 1-3 gave Kardamahal its Elite Zone, with elite versions of the Devil Sword, Devil Scythe and Devil Sorcerer, and introduced the season's headline system: Temple Guard, the first Legendary equipment. It covered weapons, shields and Temple Guard armor sets at level 1500, and it ranks above the 10th mastery tier. Every class could use it except the newest one. The Alchemist's Temple Guard pieces only arrived in Season 21 Part 1-2.
Two quality-of-life changes shipped with it. Finding a guild got easier: a guild can post a recruitment listing with a short pitch of up to 100 characters, applications wait in a queue until the guild accepts or declines them, and the G key now opens your guild's details inside the Guild Matching window. Upgrading got simpler too: one integrated window handles upgrades and combinations, pulls in the auxiliary materials once the main item is placed, and gives mastery and legendary crafting their own category.
How does Temple Guard legendary gear work?
Before Season 20, the top of the gear ladder was the mastery line, from Bloodangel up to Lightning, where the newest tiers are crafted from the tier below. Temple Guard does not replace that line. It is built on top of it.
According to the Korean patch notes, the base is a +15 excellent item from the 10th mastery tier with 16 options. You add Temple Guard materials, jewels and Zen, and the craft itself always succeeds. The real work starts after that: at the Chaos Goblin in Noria you raise the piece by Enhance Level, up to 14, and by Enhance Stage, from 1 to 4, feeding it Temple Guard reinforcement stones. Webzen's global guide lists a Shining version of the stone as well.
In play, the mastery grind became the entry ticket rather than a dead end: a finished 10th-tier piece is the starting material.
Our guardian and mastery gear guide walks through the whole chain from Bloodangel to the legendary tiers, the Temple Guard reinforcement stones guide covers the upgrade material, and the SilverMU rates page shows the combination and upgrade rates taken from the server files themselves.
What changed in Season 20 Part 2?
After a gap of more than five months, Part 2 opened in Korea on April 22, 2025. It mixed a class renewal and a new map with a rethink of how EXP works at the top of the game.
Part 2-1: the Rune Wizard renewal
The Rune Wizard, called Rune Mage on the global service, got the season's class renewal. The Korean notes turn the one-handed attack option of the Rune Mace into a wizardry option, and the class gained a new magic-power stat (Wizardry Power in the global wording). It also received its own line of shields, running from Bloodangel up to Temple Guard, and two new skills, Runic Spear and Rune Phrase, plus a 5th-tier ability card for Rune Phrase.
The Rune Wizard was the third class in a row to get a renewal of its own, after the Grow Lancer and the Dark Lord in Season 19, and the first caster of the three. Global players received the Rune Mage renewal on February 3, 2026, when their Season 20 Part 2 opened with four Speed Servers.
Part 2-2: Swamp of Destruction and a new EXP table
The Swamp of Destruction opened as the new top hunting ground. The Korean notes give it an entry level of 1550 and list the Shadow Master, Napin and Sapi Queen of Destruction as its monsters. The 8th mastery earrings, Frost, came with it, the left one at level 1000 and the right one at 1050.
The bigger change was EXP. Leveling past 1551 moved to a new EXP table, characters already beyond that point kept the EXP they had earned, and Kardamahal's monsters were made more rewarding. Webzen's Season 20-2 guide adds a level-gap rule for monsters of level 950 and up, which means Kardamahal and every newer hunting ground. Subtract 600 from your level: a monster at or below the result pays full EXP. Every level it sits above that line costs 10 percent, and the cut stops at 70 percent, so even a badly mismatched kill still pays 30 percent.
Characters who had finished the 5th advancement also got a new EXP buff, the Blessing of Eunice, worth 50 percent more hunting EXP. The Monster Soul Converter was reworked as well, into five brackets from level 400 to level 1450 and above.
Part 2-3: Tauros and the finishing touches
The last Korean part, on May 29, 2025, added the 7th guardian, Tauros, at level 1400 in normal and rare versions. Like Ullr and Leviathan before it, Tauros comes from upgrading the previous guardian: you bring a +11 to +15 Leviathan and Tauros' Seal to the Trainer in Lorencia (122, 110). The Swamp of Destruction got its Elite Zone, and an EXP Recovery Potion arrived that wins back EXP lost to a death penalty (within 24 hours of the death, in the global version).
Part 2 also tidied up events. Blood Castle, Devil Square and Illusion Temple each went from one ticket per level bracket to a single ticket, the Maze of Dimensions was capped at 10 entries a day, and the bosses of Boss Battle Together got tougher: in Webzen's global table their HP rose from 100 million to 136.5 million.
Which classes are in MU Online Season 20?
Season 20 ended with 15 classes: Dark Wizard, Dark Knight, Elf, Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord, Summoner, Rage Fighter, Grow Lancer, Rune Wizard, Slayer, Gun Crusher, Light Wizard, Lemuria Mage, Illusion Knight and the new Alchemist. The 16th, the Crusader, opened Season 21 on the Korean service on September 30, 2025.
That gives you a quick way to date a server: an Alchemist without a Crusader means Season 20 files. Our class pages cover all 16 classes in their Season 22 form.
Season 20 vs Season 22: what carried over?
Almost everything Season 20 built is still there. The Season 22 server data still contains the Alchemist, Kardamahal Underground Temple, the Swamp of Destruction, the Temple Guard items (now with Alchemist and Crusader pieces), the Frost earrings and Tauros.
What changed is everything stacked on top. Season 21 added the Crusader, the Imperial legendary tier above Temple Guard and two more cap raises, to 1750 and then 1800. Season 22 keeps all 16 classes. Our Season 21 article covers that step, the MU Online Season 22 overview covers the newest one, and the MU Online season history lines up every season from 97d onward.

Season 20's legacy on SilverMU
Season 20 set the shape of today's endgame. Legendary gear starts where the mastery line ends, and Season 21's Imperial tier is made by upgrading Temple Guard pieces. The Alchemist, the class built to make party hunting faster, belongs to the 16-class roster of Season 22 Part 1-1, the version SilverMU runs on server files 22.1.1.0.
SilverMU is still in testing, so rates and settings become final only when the news announces them. The download page will carry the client from the day it is published, and signing up is free and does not have to wait for launch day.
